We had special dinners with groups A and D, the “2012 Reception Cruise”, a trip to Valencia to see flamenco, a theatrical play at the school, our choir and orchestra concert in Castellon, the end of many internships, finishing the year book, preparing for graduation, a visit to the Lladró Museum and factory, and there is still more to come.

 

This Saturday, the 19th of May, we are going to go hiking in the mountains and on Monday the 21st we have the end of the year dinner with all of the students and faculty at a restaurant in Port of Sagunto. And of course we can’t forget the homework, projects, and final exams that we still have to do, or the paella party that Ana Fernandez is planning for everyone.

 

In summary we love doing things and having fun with all of our guys and girls.

Although the tournament was short, lasting only one night. There was over 7 hours of continuous basketball, at a high level of competition. ESDES, along with a local team from Sagunto played for the title starting at 2:00 am local time. This was following a strenuous first round of round robin to advance to the second round and finals. The team of Americans was able to go undefeated thanks to great play and leadership from Juan Hidalgo, Kenneth Browne, and Jonathan Jones. Although the team of ESDES students always does well in this tournament, winning the championship has always been outside the grasp of the team, until this year. The play of the other athletes of the team was essential to the capturing the title the aforementioned including Charlie Sheese, Erik Jensen, Anders Markoff, Chris Ballester,  and Thomas Garza. There was also a three point tournament that was won by another ESDES student, Ashley Fiorello. She made 3 of the 5 three pointers winning the title outright. This was a memorable tournament for all the players and spectators and it will be the job of next years ESDES students to defend the title and play with the passion of this championship team.

They include a big amount of events and activities like the mascleta.

Today 5 of March  the school of ESDES along with the teacher Ana Fernández will asist

to some of these events, like the mascletá or voting to save a ninot.

We are sure that they are going  to enjoy a lot this activity and all the ones that are coming.

They have been excited for weeks and finally get the opportunity to experience a guided tour throughout northern Spain with their very own history professor. They will be shown a number of cathedrals, museums, and Barcelona beaches that these students have only dreamt of visiting. The four day trip starts tomorrow and the students will be resuming classes after the weekend. Good luck travelers!

Six teams started this tournament, including two teams comprised of ESDES students, but only one came out the victor. The tournament, started Saturday night and ended on Sunday morning. The tournament also included a three point contest won by ESDES’ own Thomas “Tre-dogg” Garza.

By late Sunday morning only two teams remained, including one team from ESDES coached by Juan “Running Man” Hidalgo. Although both teams torched all other teams in games previous, the Championship  game was a hard fought, intense match, that included many controversial calls. In the end, a team from nearby Castellón came out the victor by a small margin of five points.

It was a memorable weekend for players and fans, and the friendships that were made this weekend will not soon be forgotten!!!

From the 24th of January until the 10th of February Juan Antonio López,
 the director of the escuela de español para extranjeros del Centro
Educativo Adventista de Sagunto (ESDES) is traveling doing promotion along
the following adventist univesities in the USA:
Southern Adventist  University, Andrews University, Oakwood University
 and Union College. He travels along with some others european directors
and the responsablefor the Adventist Colleges Abroad, Dra. Odette Ferreira.
We hope that God would bless them on their jurney to develop and
improve the ministry that all of them are sharing on those places.

			We have been working our hardest at ESDES since Monday, Januray 9, 2012. We have been given a great opportunity: a few students and the desire of God to accompany us on all the adventures that we will face.


The students are very motivated and are all recovered from their trips. From a cruise in which 20 of our students embarked upon to the popular New Year’s Eve in Paris, they have enjoyed the most interesting places that Europe has to offer and now it turns to the best thing. Getting to learn Spanish in a place they already consider home, ESDES.


From all of us, we wish you a happy New Year and to our students welcome home.
